This scholarship is perpetuated by Cornelia Turk Philipson '58 and Robin Turk Coller '65 in honor of their parents, Stella and Herald Turk, and their brother, Jonathan Turk.
About the Turk family
The Turks first came to Miami in the 1930's from New York. Stella and Herald came to Miami Beach when newly married. Stella taught English at Miami Beach Senior High for over 20 years, and Herald became Mayor of Miami Beach from 1949–1951. Jonathan was very active while attending Beach High, graduating in the Class of '63, later graduating from UF. All three remained very active in the community. Herald was a lawyer while Jonathan was a realtor, and president of the Miami Beach Realtor Association. They remained residents of the Beach until their deaths.
Cornelia and Robin have been longtime members of the Alumni Association and served on the Board of Directors. Cornelia is the current president and Robin serves as secretary.
